As a mother you are asked to give so much of yourself every day, both physically and emotionally. You are also called on to make decisions constantly that impact the direction of someone else’s life as well as your own. Decisions about work, childcare, schooling, what everyone eats, looks at, and wears, along with the other thousand and one details of daily life that require your energy.
These parenting responsibilities demand constant attention, energy and vigilance, and can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s easy to end up feeling depleted, exhausted and full of self-doubt. In the midst of this, and with your old sense of self eroded, it can feel hard to know how you feel about things and what is important to you now if you were given the chance to be centre-stage. You need to re-establish who you are, because you know if you don’t you are depriving both you and your child of the richest resource you can offer – you.
You may have tried various things to reconnect with yourself. You know you can’t go back to your old self, but you don’t have the time or space in your normal day to even begin to take stock of what this change means to you. You have an inkling it could be a positive change, a call to grow further into yourself, but you are not sure how.
It feels like it is time to drop anchor, steady yourself and re-plot your own course.
Whilst it can feel hard to give yourself the permission, you know that time nourishing and re-charging yourself will benefit everyone. The Creative Life Coaching for Mothers Programme will help you identify how this is possible in your life. You will also set up ways to hold yourself accountable so that you practice re-connecting and re-charging rather than just wish you did.
